Family Session at Lewis & Clark College

I have been shooting in the Beaverton & Portland area for about a year now and have been acquiring some great locations in my tool belt.  But it is always SO fun to find new spots.  This family session is the first time I shot at Lewis & Clark College.  We were hoping for some great autumn color in the trees, unfortunately Mother Nature’s timing hadn’t quite worked that out for us.  BUT the campus was still amazing with some beautiful old buildings, trails and bridges through the forest, and interesting architecture.  It’s going to be a favorite shooting location for me in the future… I am sure!

Family Session

This family session is also a great example of patience and perseverance with children’s portraiture.  This little guy was not really digging the whole idea of photo session.  He was cutting about a million teeth all at once and he wasn’t happy about it.  Did the family end up with any good photos?  Yes!  We took our time, found some moments in between the tears, and they ended up with an entire gallery of happy photos.  It is easy for parents to get frustrated when their child isn’t performing for family photos.  But not these parents… they were exceedingly patient and allowed for the time necessary to make it happen.  So this is my public service announcement: “A good children’s photographer will do everything in their power to get great photos for you, even in less than ideal circumstances.  Patience will pay off!”

Lewis & Clark

I want to thank this family for choosing me to capture these moments for their family.  I know how much work goes into getting everyone ready for a family session, especially when you have young children, and I’m so thankful that we were able to get some great shots for you!
