The Pearl District: My new favorite location

One of the perks to being relatively new to the Portland area is exploring new portrait locations.  When this client recommended shooting in the Pearl District, I was excited for many reasons:

1.  I had always wanted to shoot a session in the Pearl District

2.  This particular client was both a friend and fellow photographer.

3.  I figured if anyone knew where to go for photos in the Pearl… it would be another photographer.

Unfortunately, shooting other photographers is completely nerve wracking.  She photographed my family just a few weeks prior and did a fabulous job.  Darn her.  If my family photos had sucked I wouldn’t have felt so much pressure.  Remind me to go first next time.  LOL!  We started in and around Jamison Square.  Right across the street from the Square is the remnants of an old brick building.  And surrounding the park is a cool boardwalk with trees that were turning bright yellow for fall.  Perfect backdrops!

Part of being a mom AND a photographer is that you have a ton of photos of your spouse and children, but hardly any with you in them.  So we made sure to capture some of mom with her each of her kiddos.

It was super special to be able to capture this season in life for this amazing mom, friend, and photographer.  If you want to check out her work, take a peek at Andrea Hartman Photography.  She is amazing!
