Family Photos at Jenkins Estate

I had the opportunity to take some extended family photos for some amazing people.  Their family dynamic reminded me so much of my own family… fun, teasing and full of love.  We decided to shoot at Jenkins Estate, which is quickly turning out to be one of my favorite places to do portraits.  Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, this 68-acre property is now owned by the Park & Recreation District and features an early 20th century home, refurbished stables, trails through evergreen forests and manicured gardens.  It’s got a little bit of everything all in one spot!  I absolutely ADORE this amazing house!

This family has wanted to have pictures taken for a while, but the session was spurred on by one member heading out on military service overseas.  It was wonderful to see how loving and supportive they were of one another.  They say it takes a village to raise kids, and this family is the perfect example of that as these four little girls are very well loved.

Extended family sessions are a LOT of work… I’m not going to lie.  You want to get photos of each family group, individuals of each child, parents together, siblings together, etc.  But I KNOW how much work my clients put into it on their end to get their extended family together for pictures AND to coordinate outfits.  I’ve been there with my own family.  So I recognize how important these images are.  And when you get to hang out with sweet girls like THIS, it makes it so worth while!

And of course… let’s not forget the adults!  I always leave photographing couples to the end when the kids are DONE and have made it clear that their photoshoot is over.  By that point I can usually coerce some more shots out of the adults!

Thanks to this wonderful family for spending time with me and choosing me to take their portraits.  It was such a blessing to get to know you better!
